Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBG)
The federal Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program provides flexible funding that may be used by states and localities for a wide range of transportation projects. The intent is to preserve and improve the conditions and performance on any federal-aid highway, bridge, public road, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, planning, recreational trails, construction of ferry boats and terminals, and transit capital projects.
Projects will be evaluated for eligibility, prioritized, and selected by those that align with the regional priorities and/or goals and support identified Performance Targets. Once prioritized, the projects are submitted to the KYOVA Policy Committee for consideration and approval. Applications will be accepted until all available STBG funds have been committed.
To facilitate a more streamlined application process, KYOVA transitioned to a web-based on-line process. KYOVA has two applications for the STBG Program. The first is for Planning Studies and Design (non-construction projects) and the second is for Construction and Transit Projects.
