Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ)
The FAST Act continued the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program to provide flexible funding source to State and local governments for transportation projects and programs to help meet the requirements of the Clean Air Act. Funding is available to reduce congestion and improve air quality for areas that do not meet the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ozone, carbon monoxide, or particulate matter (non-attainment areas). The areas within the KYOVA planning area that qualify for CMAQ funds are Cabell and Wayne counties, West Virginia, Boyd County, Kentucky and a portion of Greenup County, Kentucky, and the urbanized are of Lawrence County, Ohio. KYOVA only administers funds for the urbanized area of Lawrence County, Ohio and at this time, all funds have been committed through FY 2023. Please contact KYOVA if you are interested in CMAQ funds for the urbanized area of Lawrence County, Ohio.
