Meetings & Workshops

The development of the 2040 KYOVA MTP was guided and shaped by public involvement. A combination of Steering Committee meetings, interactive Public Workshops, and targeted stakeholder outreach will be used to gather a robust set of feedback. A summary of upcoming and previous outreach activities is included here.

Previous Public Events

Public Workshop Series #6 (April 8 and 10, 2013)

Public open houses were held on April 8, 2013, at Ohio University in Ironton, Ohio, and on April 10, 2013, at the KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission Conference Room in Huntington, West Virginia. Citizens were invited to these informal public meetings to provide their comments on both the 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan and the 2014-2017 Transportation Improvement Program.

Public Workshop Series #5 (December 6, 2012)

Citizens were invited to attend an open house to view maps and exhibits. During the meeting, citizens provided feedback to improve safety and mobility for motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit users.

Public Workshop Series #4 (October 11, 2012)

Citizens were invited to review and comment on the recommendations of the KYOVA Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The project team presented the recommendations and implementation strategies and gave local residents an opportunity to provide input and feedback before the plan is finalized.

Public Workshop Series #3 (April 27, 2012)

Citizens and business owners were invited to help update the region’s metropolitan transportation plan. Public workshop activities included an open house, presentation, and small group sessions.

Public Workshop Series #2 (October 13, 2011)

Citizens and business owners were invited to learn more about the KYOVA Metropolitan Transportation Plan and provide their feedback. Maps and other materials were on display for viewing, and a brief presentation was given to provide information about the plan. Participants had a chance to discuss the maps in small groups and offer their suggestions and input.

Public Workshop Series #1 (May 11 and May 12, 2011)

The KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission invited citizens and business owners to help update the region’s Metropolitan Transportation Plan.  Their feedback was used to guide the short- and long-term transportation decisions for the region.  The Public Workshop series was an interactive session, consisting of a brief presentation, an open house, and small group sessions to gather around maps and provide feedback.
