Public Meetings/Charrette

Public Workshop — Summer 2012
Review and comment on the recommendations of the Downtown Huntington Access Study and the KYOVA Metropolitan Transportation Plan.  The project team will present the recommendations and implementation strategies for both planning efforts and give local residents an opportunity to provide input and feedback before the plan is finalized.

Public Meetings/Charrette

Open House – October 13, 2011
The KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission and City of Huntington invited the public to participate in a discussion of transportation needs and opportunities in the Downtown Huntington Area. This Open House allowed the public to learn more about the Downtown Huntington Access Study, view project maps, and provide their feedback.

Public Design Charrette — June 7-9, 2011
Business owners, planning staff, and the general public worked with the design team to develop the community context and work plan for Downtown Huntington by sitting down side-by-side with community leaders, citizens, business owners to develop a clear vision.  During this multiday event, you had the opportunity to work with the consultant engineers, planners and landscape architects— looking over their shoulders as they work at a temporary office located in downtown Huntington.  The public was invited to drop in at any time during the day and encouraged to attend each evening’s design pin-up sessions.

Public Workshop Series #1 (May 11 and May 12, 2011) 
The KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission invited citizens and business owners to help update the region’s Metropolitan Transportation Plan, in conjunction with the Downtown Huntington Access Study. Your feedback was used to guide the short- and long-term transportation decisions for the region as well as specific solutions for the downtown Huntington area.  The Public Workshop series was an interactive session, consisting of a brief presentation, an open house, and small group sessions to gather around maps and provide feedback. 

 

Project Steering Committee Meetings

A project Steering Committee made up of local planning staff, agencies and business representatives has been established to provide ongoing guidance throughout the planning process.  Tentative meeting schedule is as follows:
